We want our customers to feel safe whilst using our facilities. As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, we have put in place a number of safety procedures that we kindly ask all customers to adhere to when utilising our facilities.

General Guidance

Do not enter our facilities if you have received a positive test for Covid-19.

Do not enter our facilities if you are experiencing or have experienced symptoms of Covid-19 in the last 10 days including:

  • A new, continuous cough
  • A high temperature
  • Loss of sense of smell or taste or both

Do not enter our facilities if someone in your household has had symptoms or tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 10 days. 

Do not enter our facilities if you have been contacted by a contact tracer from the Test, Trace and Protect Programme, and told to isolate in the last 10 days.

Do not enter our facilities if you have returned from a country outside of the UK common travel area in the last 10 days.

In the event anyone becomes unwell with COVID-19 symptoms during a session, they must:

  • leave immediately, avoiding contact with others, surfaces, and equipment
  • notify group organiser/member of facility staff as soon as possible
  • adhere to Public Health Wales guidance

Individuals/group organisers must inform facility staff of a suspected COVID-19 case immediately.

Social distancing must be observed at all times unless otherwise stated.

Customers classed as vulnerable should seek medical guidance before attending.

Staff will continue to provide First Aid cover. Injured persons will be encouraged to self-administer treatment where possible, with qualified First Aid staff overseeing. Where this is not possible, staff have been issued with appropriate PPE to safely administer treatment.

Strictly follow all hygiene guidance and procedures as indicated by signage around the facilities.

Face coverings are now mandatory for all staff, students, customers and visitors whilst on site. Therefore, please be advised:

  • Face coverings must be worn by all customers/users when moving around Sport Swansea indoor facilities, but can be removed during sessions. 
  • Face coverings are encouraged for all customers/users when traveling to/from/between outdoor facilities, but can be removed during sessions. However, masks and coverings are still a sensible precaution when moving around outside .

Facility rules must be abided by at all times./

Main Gym

All gym sessions must be booked via our new online booking portal or App (download now from Play Store or App Store – search Swansea Bay Sports Park).

Current capacity is 30.

Access and egress from the gym will be through Swansea Bay Sports Park Reception (SBSP) reception.

On your first visit please report to reception to be assigned a card, have a photo taken and verify your membership.

Once you have been assigned your card please make your way to the third barrier (closest to the pool viewing window).

Those who have already had their cards assigned and membership verified we ask arrive in time for their booking.

Scan your card on with the RFID reader or with the barcode on the glass panel.

Once through the barriers please follow the one-way system after the link corridor until you reach the gym.

The lift will be accessible when required, only one person in the lift per time unless the second person is of the same household or where assistance is required.

At the gym door you will need to scan your membership card again on the RFID reader or barcode reader to gain access to the gym.

A member of staff will be available at the gym reception at all times for information or assistance.

Please leave promptly at the end of the booking so all equipment and touch points can be cleaned by staff before the next booking.

Please egress the gym through the dedicated gym exit, turning right back onto the on-way system and head towards the SBSP reception and out into the car park.

On leaving the gym please put your mask back on while moving around the facilities.

Water refill machines are available next to the lift and just inside the gym door; you need to bring your own bottle. Bottles are also available directly from the machine.

Hall Gym

The hall gym will be available from 1st June 2021.

To access the hall gym, follow the one-way system down the stairs from the sport centre foyer.

At the bottom of the stairs, turn right and scan your membership card on the RFID or barcode scanner to the left of the door. (Closest to the lift and water machine.)

Once through the door, please adhere to the one-way system within the sports hall gym.

To egress the sports hall gym, heading towards the main gym or to egress from the building, please use the other double doors located at the end of the sport hall gym one-way system. You will need to press the green button on the wall to unlock the door when exiting.

You are now back on the one-way system to the main gym and main egress route out of the facilities. You will need to scan your membership card outside the main gym door to gain entry.

To enter the sports hall gym from the main gym, egress through the usual main gym exit but turn left, proceed up the stairs and use the double doors directly in front of you. (Please scan your membership card to gain access.)

Gym Rules and Etiquette

Adhere to all safety signage within the gym.

Make sure to follow the one-way system around the gym.

Clean equipment before and after use with the cleaning materials provided.

Wash or sanitise your hands regularly.

Be mindful at busy times to limit the time spent on one single piece of equipment.

Train alone or if not possible only train with one other person from the same household.

The changing rooms are currently closed so please come dressed ready for physical activity, including appropriate footwear. Jeans and flip-flops are prohibited.

The lockers are currently not in use, where possible avoid bringing bags to the gym, if you do have a bag please keep it on you at all times.

Any filming for technique purposes should be of you only. If you are likely to get other members in the frame please ask permission. If this is not possible please do not film.

Please remove all plates from bars and machines once you have finished using them and replace where they came from.

Please only remove shoes when performing a lift, and then replace them immediately.

If you use chalk for personal use, only do so on the platforms and clean up any excess mess.

Sweat towels are not permitted in the gym, please use the blue roll provided.

Bookings have set times, please leave promptly to allow staff to clean before the next booking.

Be mindful of those around who might be anxious to return to the gym. Keep distance and do not move equipment from its pre-set layout for your own safety.

Currently the gym bookings are 75 minutes long and can be booked via the Swansea Bay Sports Park app.

Badminton

Badminton courts must be booked via our new online booking portal or App (download now from Play Store or App Store – search Swansea Bay Sports Park).

The bookings are for a 1 hour slot.

Bring your own equipment with you. Rentals will not be available at this time. Sharing of equipment is not permitted.

Singles and Double play (between the same household / extended households – one other household). The same doubles pair shall play together during the session.

Leave the court promptly at the end of your booking.

Access to the badminton courts will be through the SBSP reception. Please follow all facility safety procedures in place including wear a face covering and sanitising hands on entry.

Arrive on time for your booking.

If it is your first visit, please report to reception for card assignment, photo and activity verification.

Once you have your card or on subsequent visits please head towards the barriers. Please use the third Barrier (closest to the pool viewing window).

Make your way through he link corridor, through the sport centre foyer and then along the Sports Hall balcony to the far stairs.

Go down the stairs and enter onto the far side of the hall where the court(s) will be set up for you.

Egress is the reverse route to access, back to the SBSP and out to the car park.

Squash Courts

Squash courts must be booked via our new online booking portal or App (download now from Play Store or App Store – search Swansea Bay Sports Park).

The bookings are for a 1 hour slot, but we ask that you make your way to the exit after 50 minutes as to avoid crossing with the next booking.

Bring your own equipment with you. Rentals will not be available at this time.

Leave the court promptly at the end of your booking. Sharing of equipment is not permitted.

Access to the courts will be through the SBSP reception. Please follow all facility safety procedures in place including wear a face covering and sanitising hands on entry.

Arrive on time for your booking.

If it is your first visit, please report to reception for card assignment, photo and activity verification.

Once you have your card or on subsequent visits please head towards the barriers. Please use the third Barrier (closest to the pool viewing window).

Make your way through he link corridor and then follow the first part of the one-way system towards the gym.

Once you get to the bottom of the first stairs (opposite the men’s changing rooms) please turn left towards the squash courts.

Turn the lights on and check the court is clear before playing  (lights located on the wall outside the court).

Do not wipe your hands on the wall while playing.

After 50 mins please leave promptly turning left out of the court and following the one-way system back to SBSP reception and out to the car park.

Basketball

Basketball is not currently permitted for individual bookings. As soon as we are able we will open up bookings for 1 ring or full court individual basketball bookings via our website or App. There will be more information coming soon.

Classes

Fitness classes must be booked via our new online booking portal or App (download now from Play Store or App Store – search Swansea Bay Sports Park).

Classes range in duration from 30mins – 1hr.

If this is your first visit, please report to Reception for card assignment, photo and activity verification.

Pavilion Classes (Pilates and Yoga)

Once the first visit checks are completed or if this is your second visit, please make your way to the Pavilion.

Exit the SBSP Reception and walk along the footpath to the end of the Sport Centre building. Then, head across the car park between the Sports Centre and the Pavilion, proceed down the slope to the front of the Pavilion. (Please be aware of traffic in the car park.)

Once at the front of the Pavilion, take the door on the right-hand side and proceed up the stairs and into the Pavilion lecture room.

Customers are requested to ensure stairs are clear before accessing, in order to prevent passing in close proximity. ‘Keep left’ signage will be in place.

There will be 15 minutes scheduled between bookings to prevent groups overlapping.

The lecture room capacity for physical activities and classes in 9 (based on 1 person per 9m2).

A member of staff or the class instructor will take a register before the class begins.

Please bring your own mat and water bottle with you.

The changing rooms in the Pavilion are currently closed, so please come dressed appropriately.

Sport Centre Classes (Evolve Blast, Evolve Strength and Evolve Unlimited)

Once the first visit checks are completed or if this is your second visit, please make your way to the third barrier (closest to the pool viewing window).

Proceed along the link corridor until you reach the sport centre foyer.

Follow the corridor (same route as badminton) to the far stairs. Go down the stairs and through the double door into the far side of the hall.

A member of staff or class instructor will be waiting in the hall to assist.

Please make sure to clean any equipment before and after use with the cleaning products supplied.

Egress will be through the fire exit in the hall, leading to the front entrance to Swansea Bay Sports Park.

Class numbers will be set at 15 including the instructor indoors and 30 including the instructor outdoors.
