We want our customers to feel safe whilst using our facilities. As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, we have put in place a number of safety procedures that we kindly ask all customers to adhere to when utilising our facilities.

General Guidance

Do not enter our facilities if you have received a positive test for Covid-19.Do not enter facilities if you are experiencing or have experienced symptoms of Covid-19 in the last 10 days including:

  • A new, continuous cough
  • A high temperature
  • Loss of sense of smell or taste or both

Do not enter facilities if someone in your household has had symptoms or tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 10 days, unless you are under 18 or fully vaccinated, and have received a negative PCR test.


Do not enter facilities if you have been contacted by a contact tracer from the Test, Trace and Protect Programme, and told to isolate in the last 10 days, unless you are under 18 or fully vaccinated.

In the event anyone becomes unwell with COVID-19 symptoms during a session, they must:

  • leave immediately, avoiding contact with others, surfaces, and equipment
  • notify group organiser/member of facility staff as soon as possible
  • adhere to Public Health Wales guidance

Individuals/group organisers must inform facility staff of a suspected COVID-19 case immediately.

Social distancing should continue to be observed at all times where possible.

Customers classed as vulnerable should seek medical guidance before attending.

Staff will continue to provide First Aid cover. Injured persons will be encouraged to self-administer treatment where possible, with qualified First Aid staff overseeing. Where this is not possible, staff have been issued with appropriate PPE to safely administer treatment.

Strictly follow all hygiene guidance and procedures as indicated by signage around the facilities.

Face coverings are for all staff, students, customers and visitors whilst on site. Therefore, please be advised:

  • Face coverings must be worn by all customers/users when moving around Sport Swansea indoor facilities, but can be removed during sessions. 
  • Face coverings are encouraged for all customers/users when traveling to/from/between outdoor facilities, but can be removed during sessions. However, masks and coverings are still a sensible precaution when moving around outside .

Facility rules must be abided by at all times.

Where group bookings are made, it is the responsibility of group organisers to ensure names & contact numbers of all participants (including coaches) are collected & retained for Test, Trace & Protect purposes. In this situation, will retain contact information for group organisers only.

Main Gym

Current capacity is 60. Access and egress from the gym will be through Swansea Bay Sports Park Reception (SBSP) reception.

On your first visit please report to reception to be assigned a card, have a photo taken and verify your membership.

Once you have been assigned your card please make your way to the third barrier (closest to the pool viewing window).

Scan your card on with the RFID reader or with the barcode on the glass panel.

There are signs along your route to help direct you to the gym entrance.

The lift will be accessible when required, please observe the capacity limit displayed. If you find yourself in difficulty press the button on the safe line intercom. The security team will promptly alert a member of sport staff to assist.

At the gym door you will need to scan your membership card again on the RFID reader or barcode reader to gain access to the gym.

A member of staff will be available at the gym reception at all times for information or assistance.

The sports team will periodically be cleaning touchpoints throughout the facility. We do ask that members clean equipment they are using before and after use.

Please egress the gym the same way as you accessed the gym and head towards the SBSP reception and out into the car park.

On leaving the gym please put your mask back on while moving around the facilities.

Water refill machines are available next to the lift and just inside the gym door; you need to bring your own bottle. Bottles are also available directly from the machine.

Gym Rules and Etiquette

Adhere to all safety signage within the gym.

Clean equipment before and after use with the cleaning materials provided.

Wash or sanitise your hands regularly.

Be mindful at busy times to limit the time spent on one single piece of equipment.

Limit the number of people you train with to help maintain social distancing where possible.

Both changing rooms (upstairs and downstairs) are open. If the changing room is busy, please use an alternative or wait until it becomes less busy. Use the cleaning products provided to clean all areas used, (e.g. benches). Please dress ready for physical activity, including appropriate footwear. Jeans and flip-flops are prohibited.

A small number of lockers are in use along the locker corridor. These require a one-pound coin, refundable when unlocking the locker. There are cleaning products available to wipe down the lockers after use. We have also recently installed pigeonholes and lockers in the gym. Please use these to store bags tidily. Do not leave bags in walkways or unattended on the gym floor.

Any filming for technique purposes should be of you only. If you are likely to get other members in the frame please ask permission. If this is not possible please do not film.

Please remove all plates from bars and machines once you have finished using them and replace where they came from.

Please only remove shoes when performing a lift, and then replace them immediately.

If you use chalk for personal use, only do so on the platforms and clean up any excess mess.

Sweat towels are not permitted in the gym, please use the blue roll provided.

Be mindful of those around who might be anxious to return to the gym. Please maintain social distancing wherever possible to ensure personal comfort for all members.

Sports Hall Booking

Badminton courts, pickleball and basketball must be booked via our new online booking portal or App (download now from Play Store or App Store – search Swansea Bay Sports Park).

The bookings are for a 1 hour slot. (Up to two hours)

Bring your own equipment with you. Rentals will not be available at this time. Aside from pickleball, which has specialist equipment that will be provided on court for you. Please leave the equipment on court after use for staff to clean and store.

Leave the court promptly at the end of your booking.

Access to the Sports Hall will be through the SBSP reception. Please follow all facility safety procedures in place including wear a face covering and sanitising hands on entry.

If it is your first visit, please report to reception for a photo and verify price level (concession/student).

On subsequent visits check in at reception or one of the kiosks, then please head towards the barriers. Please use the third Barrier (closest to the pool viewing window).

If you are already a member of the gym with an active subscription and you have booked to use the sports hall. Your membership card will automatically be live and provide you access through the sports hall doors.

Make your way through the link corridor, past the sports centre foyer and then if your booking is on the far side of the hall make your way along the Sports Hall balcony to the far stairs. Alternatively, if your booking is on the near side, go down the stairs and enter via the double doors next to the lift.

Egress is the reverse route to access, back to the SBSP reception and out to the car park.

Squash Courts

Squash courts must be booked via our new online booking portal or App (download now from Play Store or App Store – search Swansea Bay Sports Park).

The bookings are for a 1-hour slot, but we ask that you make your way to the exit after 55 minutes as to avoid crossing with the next booking.

Bring your own equipment with you. Rentals will not be available at this time.

Leave the court promptly at the end of your booking.

Access to the courts will be through the SBSP reception. Please follow all facility safety procedures in place including wear a face covering and sanitising hands on entry.

If it is your first visit, please report to reception for a photo and verify price level (concession/student).

On subsequent visits check in at reception or one of the kiosks, then please head towards the barriers. Please use the third Barrier (closest to the pool viewing window).

Make your way through the link corridor and into the Sport Centre foyer and down the stairs.

Once you get to the bottom of the first stairs (opposite the men’s changing rooms) please turn left towards the squash courts.

Turn the lights on and check the court is clear before playing  (lights located on the wall outside the court).

Do not wipe your hands on the wall while playing.

After 55 mins please leave promptly turning left out of the court and following the same route back to SBSP reception and out to the car park.

Classes

Fitness classes can be booked via our new online booking portal or App (download now from Play Store or App Store – search Swansea Bay Sports Park). Alternatively, you can pay for your class at SBSP reception or one of the kiosks at reception on the day. Although, we suggest you book in advance to secure your place. Bookings can be made 7 days in advance.

Classes range in duration from 30mins – 1hr.

If it is your first visit, please report to reception for a photo and verify price level (concession/student).

There are three fitness class rooms at the Sport Centre, Evolve, Holistic and Evolve Drive.

Fitness Classes

Once the first visit checks are completed or if this is your second visit, please make your way to the third barrier (closest to the pool viewing window).

Proceed along the link corridor until you reach the sport centre foyer.

Go down the first flight of stairs and through the double doors immediately Infront of you. Follow the squash court balcony to the end of the corridor where you will arrive at the Holistic room on your left-hand side. For the Evolve and Evolve Drive rooms, proceed down the stairs at the end of the squash court balcony. Once you get to the bottom of the stairs turn right and the first door on your left is the Evolve room (Unlimited, Strength & Blast). Carry on to the next door on your left which is the Evolve Drive room, which is the last door you reach before the fire exit.

A member of staff or class instructor will be waiting in the classrooms to assist you.

Please make sure to clean any equipment before and after use with the cleaning products supplied.

There is a hand sanitiser point located outside the Holistic room and in between the Evolve rooms. Please sanitise your hands before entering the fitness class rooms and, on the way, out.

Egress will be through the fire exit in the hall, leading to the front entrance to Swansea Bay Sports Park..

Class numbers will be set at 11 including the instructor indoors.
