We’re pleased to confirm that work on the Athletics Track resurfacing and floodlight upgrade will begin on Monday 11th May.
This project represents a significant investment in improving both performance and user experience across the facilities. The planned works include:
- A full overlay and remarking of the outdoor Athletics track, including targeted full-depth repairs where required
- Upgrading the Hockey Pitch floodlights to energy-efficient LED systems, while maintaining existing lighting levels (350 lux for training and 500 lux for fixtures)
- Upgrading the Athletics Track floodlights to LED, increasing lighting levels to 250 lux (from the current 150–200 lux)
Project timeline
The programme is currently scheduled to run for 12 weeks, although the resurfacing phase will be heavily dependent on weather conditions.
Facility access during works
- Athletics Track: Closed for the full duration of the project
- Hockey Pitches: Largely unaffected, with only occasional short-term daytime closures
Temporary track provision
To help maintain training provision during the closure, a 6-lane athletics track will be marked on the grass field below the hockey pitches. This will be available to book on request.
