Warming up is an important factor when exercising, and is something that is often forgotten about. Effectively warming your body up prior to exercise has plenty of benefits, including the reduced risk of injury and enhanced performance.

Our gym team suggested using the RAMP warm up method as a time and energy-efficient system.

RAISE – raising body temperature, increasing muscle elasticity and increasing oxygen delivery/uptake through targeted low-intensity movements. This could be a fast pace walk, jogging, or even arm swings.

ACTIVATE AND MOBILISE – utilising key fundamental movement patterns (squat, lunge, un-lateral, brace and reach) in a progressive sequence. Controlling the movement through the required range of motion.

POTENTIATE – prepare the body for the intensity of the upcoming main training session e.g., warm-up sets.
