Wales National Pool Swansea is a proud participant in the Free Swim Initiative in Wales, which is a Welsh Government initiative operated in partnership with Sport Wales and City and County of Swansea. First launched in 2003, and reviewed in 2019, the aim of the scheme is to help people aged under 16, or over 60, who face the biggest barriers in accessing a pool to give them the chance to learn a life skill and to swim more frequently.

Under 16 Free Swimming

The Max Card is the UK’s leading discount card for foster families and families of children with additional needs. Families can use their Max Card at venues across the UK to get free or discounted admission.

Free swimming for all under 16’s 

Free Splash available Saturdays 14.00 – 16.00 and in the Summer holidays on a Monday 13.00-14.00, Wednesday 13.00 – 14.00, Thursdays 13.15 – 14.15 and Sunday 15.00-16.00. Booking advised and first come first served subject to availability (adult: child ratios apply). Come with your family for the session in the Training Pool or on your own with friends for the sessions in the 50m or 25m split.

The 50m and 25m split are suitable for strong swimmers only as the pool is 2m deep. If you are aged between 8 and 11 you must pass a pool test before being able to access the deep water pools.

Over 60’s Free Swimming

Free swimming for all over 60’s Thursdays 09.30 – 15.00 and Sunday 13.30 – 20:30 – booking not necessary but registration required.

In addition, to remove barriers to participation for people who require assistance to be able to participate in swimming and aquatic sport and activity, Wales National Pool Swansea proudly accepts Hynt cards.

Plus One/Hynt Card

If you are a carer and supporting the paying visit of a person in your care, then you can access the pool for free if you have a Hynt card. Full information about the scheme is available here.

Armed Forces Free Swimming

Are you a serving member of the Armed Forces or a veteran? If so, you are entitled to free swimming if signed up for the Defence Discount Scheme. You will be able to access all public swimming times (apart from members-only).

Registration is required and only the Defence Discount cards will be accepted. More information about the Defence Discount Scheme and how to apply for a card is available here
